Advancing Europe’s vision for a secure and sustainable edge‑to‑cloud continuum
The E2CC project took part in Trans‑Numériques 2026, a major scientific and technological event organised by Inria to bring together the French community working on the digital continuum, from the edge to the cloud. Held from 2 to 5 February 2026 in Rennes, the event gathered more than a dozen PEPR (Programmes et Équipements Prioritaires de Recherche) and numerous industrial, institutional and academic actors to address key challenges in performance, security, sustainability and interoperability within future digital infrastructures.
In this context, Patrice Calegari, Technical R&D Leader at Eviden, participated in the workshop “Pile logiciels open source : du cloud au continuum” (Open‑source software stack: from cloud to continuum), which focused on the strategic role of open‑source software in building sovereign European infrastructures. During his presentation, titled “E2CC : Le continuum sécurisé et décarboné du Edge au Cloud” (E2CC: The secure and decarbonised Edge‑to‑Cloud continuum), Patrice presented the project’s vision and progress, explaining how the team is developing a standardised end‑to‑end platform that integrates IA/MLOps capabilities, infrastructure management, orchestration, cybersecurity and energy efficiency. He also highlighted the project's contributions to the open‑source ecosystem —such as ALUMET and Cosmian KMS— and its collaboration with other European initiatives within the IPCEI‑CIS.

E2CC was the only one of the 19 IPCEI‑CIS projects represented at an event otherwise dominated by PEPR initiatives from France 2030 and rich in discussions on digital sovereignty, regulation, distributed AI and new cloud‑edge architectures. Through this participation, E2CC positioned itself at the heart of national conversations on the future of the European cloud, interoperability, open‑source technologies and digital resilience, reinforcing its role as a strategic European project contributing to the development of open, sustainable and secure edge‑to‑cloud infrastructures for the decade ahead.
